Port Sulphur feat. James Kirk – Orient Express

On their last release Port Sulphur enlisted Davy Henderson (Fire Engines, Win plus more!) and Vic Godard (Subway Sect). On this release they are joined by James Kirk, once of Orange Juice, who co-wrote the track, plays guitars and sings. He is joined by Ken McCluskey (The Bluebells) who plays harmonica to great effect.

It’s a brilliant song that harks back to the golden age of Scottish post-punk in a triumphant manner. The oriental sounding guitars and the Kirk’s vocals draw the listener straight in. Everything else is a bonus. I didn’t think they could top January’s The Lane single but stone me they have. Buy!

It’s out now on The Creeping Bent Organisation – just ignore the horrible flip side that features the late Alan Vega.
