Records I Like

A blog not as popular as it used to be!

Candy – Azure

candyExcellent bedroom pop from Melbourne’s Candy which is the solo project of Calum Newton from Lunatics on Pogosticks. The songs here are like a journey through indiepop with echoes of the likes of C86 and Sarah Records amongst others being heard. Indeed songs like Reflections of U sound like they come from Glasgow rather than Melbourne. It’s pretty good and I will be checking out his previous work.

It’s available on cassette (70 copies only!) from Slovakian label Z Tapes or get it digitally from Candy’s bandcamp page on a pay what you want basis.
